Favourite part of her job:
Being outside every day while learning to work with all sorts of tools and new materials and being hands-on and involved with the maintenance of the vessel. I love getting my hands dirty and getting stuck in to jobs like grinding, sanding, painting, repairs, etc.
Advice for the next generation
Don’t hold back. And don’t settle for a deck-stew role if your heart is set on being a deckie. Throw yourself into it fully without hesitation and be confident. Don’t be afraid to seek help or advice from other like minded women in the industry.
